Orlando's Banchero Impresses Despite Loss

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) - Donovan Mitchell scored 33 points, Jarrett Allen added 29 points and 13 rebounds, and the Cleveland Cavaliers clinched a playoff berth with a 129-120 win over the lowly Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

The victory secures the Cavaliers' third consecutive playoff appearance. They are currently in position for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Franz Wagner led the Hornets with 25 points, while rookie Paolo Banchero, the reigning Rookie of the Year, added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Banchero has been a key part of Orlando's success this season, averaging 20.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

The Cavaliers struggled defensively in the first half, allowing the Hornets to shoot 50% from the field. However, they tightened up in the second half, holding Charlotte to just 38.5% shooting.

Mitchell was particularly effective in the second half, scoring 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He also had six assists and four rebounds.

Allen was a force in the paint, scoring 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He also grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked two shots.

The Cavaliers will now turn their attention to the playoffs, where they are expected to be a contender for the Eastern Conference title.
